Suzuki Hayate Dabangg Bike

The Japanese two-wheeler giant has launched its first entry level motorcycle in India, the 113cc Suzuki Hayate, which means Fresh Breeze or Swift wind in Japanese, is available in five colors and sports aluminum cast wheels, and front and rear drum brakes. The Bike was earlier unveiled at the 2012 AutoExpo.

Suzuki Hayate will compete at the heart of the Indian two-wheeler market as Suzuki looks to increase its market share from just 2.5%. The 100-110cc segment accounts for almost 50% of the overall two-wheeler market.

The self-start bike comes with an 8 litre fuel tank. The Hayate gets a four-stroke, 112.8cc air-cooled single-cylinder engine mated to a four-speed gear box. The 112 kg (kerb weight) bike features 17 inch alloy wheels in the front and rear. The Hayate also boasts a 5-way adjustable hydraulic shock absorbers allied to an archaic tubular swingarm at the rear.

Suzuki's entry comes barely 10 days after Honda had launched its second entry level motorcycle Yuga, which is priced much higher at R44,642. The Hayate is priced lower than market leader Hero’s Splendor (Rs 41,950), but above its entry CD Dawn (Rs 36,300) model. This makes Hayate the second cheapest offering in the Indian market at Rs38,212
